Edicom Generates the First e-CF Electronic Invoice in the Dominican Republic for Philip Morris.

This month, the Directorate General of Internal Revenue of the Dominican Republic received the first Electronic Tax Receipt (e-CF), specifically the first electronic invoice, issued by multinational Philip Morris via the EDICOM Global e-Invoicing platform.

Receiving this first electronic invoice is part of the pilot program rolled out by the  Dominican Republic’s government last February to pave the way for the widespread use of e-invoicing in the country.

In this initial phase, the Internal Revenue Service developed an implementation protocol that defines the e-invoicing model in collaboration with 11 of the main companies operating in the country, including Philip Morris. The aim is to verify the functionality of the model and anticipate possible issues before extending it to the rest of taxpayers.

the EDICOM International e-Invoicing platform Philip Morris has generated the country’s first e-CF electronic invoice. The EDICOM Global e-Invoicing service enables users to operate in different markets with a single e-invoicing management system, as it adapts these electronic documents to the legislation in force in each country. Along with the Dominican Republic there are now 65 countries where you can bill through the EDICOM platform.

In April General Standard 05-19 was issued which together with Decree 254-06 accredits and defines the Electronic Tax Receipt (e-CF) e-invoice as a document that certifies the transfer of goods, delivery in bailment, or the provision of services- This document must always comply with the minimum requirements set by the current legislation.

This first electronic invoice confirms a step forward in the country's fiscal digitization process. Once this phase is complete the Dominican Republic will begin the transition period where the rest of the taxpayers will gradually join the scheme.

With this digital transformation the Dominican Republic becomes the first Caribbean country to implement e-invoicing, following in the footsteps of most Latin American countries .  The LATAM market is the most advanced in e-Invoicing worldwide, accounting for the majority of electronic invoices issued around the world. e-Invoicing speeds up administrative processes business management times, as well as providing greater fiscal control, and reducing the rates of tax evasion.
